I feel your pain never dealt with Square D but the PLC2's are DOS based and we still have these in use at our plant. Talk about changing gears I go from working on the CLX platform back to the PLC2 and it takes a little to realize I can't use the mouse and cross reference as easy not to mention online editing. We also have a few CTC Interact HMI's in use that are all DOS. I will admit the old DOS based systems hold up much better than the newer stuff.

The DOS software for Sy/max PLCs was written in the early 80's prior to "personal computers" being common place. The command structure of the Sy/Max PLCs has not ever been changed. You are commenting about using 28 year old technology.

Maybe so but I will tell you it is more reliable than some of the new stuff harder to program most definetly.

I know, the system seems to work very well with few if any problems. The state I work for was installing them on bridges just as they were Square D was phasing the system out, so it's hard to get parts.

I mentioned Ron Beaufort's classes back in post #9. Since then he's come up with a set of free YouTube training videos on PLCs that you might find helpful. You can access these from the Sample Lessons page of his website at www.ronbeaufort.com.
