please help ans this question about a machine for a restaurant end user

i want to use a machine from malaysia that is not ul cert/ use it not sell it to anyone....The manuf told me the machine is not ul or csa cert, do i need these to be the enduser of the machine. I have no interest in selling or marketing the machine to anyone. This is a piece of restaurant equipment

Imo, it must third party approved before it can be used in the US.

"Approval" is left to the local authority having jurisdiction.
In many areas the answer may depend on if the equipment is hard wirred or has a factory cord and plug.
You need to check with the inspection authority in your area.
