Re: Please Respond Quick!!!!

What is your research for? I could cite code Articles but I don't think you would understand what they mean. The NEC is also not available on the web, unless you want to pay.

Re: Please Respond Quick!!!!

I know that in Louisiana it is standard to insert a 6' grounding rod in the ground and connect that to grounding wire which is attached to the panel. Do you know of any online resource that would state this?

Re: Please Respond Quick!!!!

No because it would be against the NEC code.
The NEC requires a 8' ground rod. It seem's to me that for this class you should own a copy of the NEC.
Do you have one?

Re: Please Respond Quick!!!!

no we don't have copies of the NEC. My assignment was to find, online, how to "ground" a circuit breaker panel. I can not find anything!!!! This is my last source of consultation. The paper is due tomorrow, i've been looking for 2 weeks, and am about to give up and take a f unless i can find someone here who knows of a link. Please I am begging.

"how to ground a circuit breaker?"

I did not know you could ground a breaker. ;)

The "respond quick" makes me nervous.

This is an electricity class. You have no copies of the NEC. You apparently have no book that would illustrate the answer to your question where any decent text for such a class would. You tell us that your assigment is to find the answer "on line".

I don't mean to be harsh guys, but for some reason I don't believe Chantel. We have had non- electrical people come here for answers in persuit of law suits or other actions against the electrical trade. We have had DIY'ers come here looking for answers when they should have consulted a licensed contractor. This sounds like one or the other.

"no we don't have copies of the NEC"
What kind of school would not make the NEC mandatory ?
And if it didn't what student would not buy one.
Not exactly hard to buy,any supply house will have them.

A fast tip off of non electrician can be found by clicking on there name.Often shows brand new member and opened same day and this is first post

Re: Please Respond Quick!!!!

If Chantel were looking for DIY answers, there were none given, look at the links and tell me that a DIYer would understand them.

Those of us who have been here for awhile are well aware of the DIY issues.

Jim, notice that you and Chantel are both new members relatively speaking.

Roger ,i joined beginning of Dec and have made several posts.Do think there is a bit of differance between me and a 1 post member

Re: Please Respond Quick!!!!

Jim,

Believe it or not most Electrical Engineers do not ever have to own a copy of the NEC while in school. Also if you are in school the last thing you want to do is spend some additional money on another book that you can sell back to the bookstore on campus at the end of the semester for 35% of what you paid for it.
It sounds like Chantel's only issue is that he/she procrastinated way too long on this report.

Re: Please Respond Quick!!!!

Everyone had to make a first post. I'm new also. If I feel I can contribute, I will. If I have a question, I'll ask. That was this forum is about, I think. We all have varying degrees of knowlegde, experience and specialties. I've learned several things in the short weeks I've been a member.

Re: Please Respond Quick!!!!

I hope the new ones will not go away if someone jabs a little too hard. You do need a thick skin and an open mind with this forum. Do not shoot from the lip! I have been guilty of doing that and had to eat crow.

I am still learning and really appreciate everyone's opinion. It really helps me to get other's perspectives. :D

Re: Please Respond Quick!!!!

I do not post much either. I ask if I need to but mostly I glean info from all the members here. The number of posts may not be a good indicator as to experience level.
