Is seal-tite still acceptable for plenum rated ceilings? If not, what is an acceptable method of flexable wiring for applications larger than lighting fixtures where a 3/8" plenum whip can be used?

Re: Plenum Rating

Why would you want to use seal tite in a ceiling? Are you afraid the roof is going to leak? :D

Anyway, if you need need a flexible whip use greenfield.

Re: Plenum Rating

300.22(C)(1) does not list liquidtight flexible metal conduit as a permitted wiring method for "other space used for environmental air". You can use flexible metal conduit.

Re: Plenum Rating

Thanks for your reply, but a plenum rated system is a sealed system and green field does not fall under the catagory of "sealed"

Re: Plenum Rating

Where is the term "Sealed System" used.

Consider a standard 4" square box which is comonly used in ceilings used for Enviromental Air.

Read the article Don posted. (300.22(C)(1))

Re: Plenum Rating

300.22(b) says flexible metal conduit and liquidtight flexible metal conduit shall be permitted, in lengths not to exceed 1.2 m (4 ft), to connect physically adjustable equipment and devices permitted to be in these ducts and plenum chambers.

Re: Plenum Rating

Just caught on...
So, it can be used in a manufactured plenum but not a plenum rated ceiling. Just wondering how this came to be?
