In a dispute with the electrical authority here in Jax Fl. they want all p.o.a. 's at 12'. The adament engineer stated this is because the NEC says so. Correct me if I am wrong after 36 yrs it's news to me. I am of the old school so if it is not ten feet as in my 2005 manual could someone please explain.

Thanks in advance

Re: POA 10'

10' is the lowest possible clearance.

A POA located at 10' would not usually result in service conductors maintaining 10'

Re: POA 10'

Point of attachment and the minimum vertical clearance from ground are not the same thing, as pointed out by Bob.

In our area, the Utility requires the minimum vertical clearance from ground at 12 feet, so the point of attachment would be even higher, as the drip loop would be lower than the POA.
