i came across this terminology today while reading. in the context of electrical/electronics is this term correctly applied only to vrm's (voltage regulator module)? or can it be applied to other situations such as when describing multi-point switching circuits and calling a four-way switch a "point-of-load control"?

I have only seen it in referrence to using voltage regulators to supply local power to a circuit from a common power bus. This can simplify power routing and provide redundancy.
