I am wiring a clubhouse with pool for one of our planned communities and the plan calls for 5 candle watts of lighting per sq. ft. of pool deck. I tried to find some pool codes on the web, besides art. 680 which doesnt seem to cover this, but I lost patience and am looking for your help. Thanks.

the plan is calling for us to provide a required a required amount of lighting for deck area,I think, and am looking for info about the lighting formula. I wire new construction and dont get a chance to do this kind of stuff very often so I jumped at the chance whem my boss offered. I dont think 680.22(b) will answer this question but it will be realitive when i figure out what the heck im doing.

any idea where to find an answer? the plan doesnt call for anything specific and just requires the 5 candle watts per sq. ft. im sorry if this question is out of place, just looking for input.

It may be in the Uniform Swimming Pool Code. We don't adopt it in CA, and commercial pools, such as the one you are doing, fall under the Countys Enviornmental Health Department here. The lighting may also fall under your local security ordinance.

Not everything we are required to do is in the NEC only.

I used to have a paper that someone put together that cross referenced between the NEC and any other aplicable code such as lights in a t-bar ceiling which is being asked about in another thread. Maybe one of these days I'll dig it up.
