Anybody heard of or seen an approved metal combination pool junction box and device outlet box? Not sure if this is allowed by code? Reason I ask is that customer called with hot tub light trouble. It's an inside in the floor permanant tub.

Before I go look at it I asked if he could locate the pool j-box. He says he has no pool junction box. He looked under the floor in the crawl space and described to me what must be a wet-niche fixture with brass conduit running up through the floor.

So he called previous owner, who is an electrician and who installed the wiring back about 1980 and he told him that the only box is the 3 gang switch box on the wall. Anybody remember back that far what the code requirements were? I haven't seen it yet. Just wondering before I go look at it.

It was a 3 hub brass box connected to brass pipe with a black cover. Most were installed under a diving board or extended and put in a flower bed. Some were put under a bench. I have never seen a combo box for pool light and devise.

Sounds like there was no pool box used. My bet is the pool light went straight to the 3 gang switch box. I would bet that nm cable probably feeds that box .

Some pool lights come with 100' cords. Look around the pump/panel area. If LV, there is a transformer someplace.

Which article would apply if the pool light transformer was located on a permanently anchored raft in a man made pond?:D

I have a similar question. I am working on a Kitchen remodel/extension where the house has extended over the brass pool light j-box. From the pool to the house is all concrete. I figured that I would just tie into it under the house but I wanted to know if that is ok to do. The only other option is to tear out the concrete and redirect the pipe but I don't think they will go for that.
