Pool Ladder Stray Voltage

i will try to bond the ladder and see if that will solve it. Thanks for the feedback guys.

You may be thinking backwards here.

1. The ladder may be bonded and thats where the voltage is coming from. When you have an open neutral, electricity will take an alternate route which sometimes means thru te bond wire and bonded structures.

2. The source may be the pool water and the ladder is the return path.

In any case, I feel the last thing you should do is bond away stray voltage. Find the source and correct it.Simply giving it somewhere better to go isn't really addressing the issue.

Bonding is not an attempt to give the voltage somewhere else to go. It is an attempt to bring everything within reach to the same voltage.
I agree that you need to find the source and correct it.

I have to admit that this is a very good video but it is long. If you want to watch the swimming pool section start at 47:24 and it goes to 1:17:17-- 30 minutes.

BTW, I love the fact that MH used to have a graphic that showed the metal frame of windows., within 5' of the pool, bonded to the pool grid and now he says how worthless it is to do that. His new graphic does not show it.

Many of you may remember the long discussions over that rule. Now the 2011 has brought it back into play. They changed the heading and added metal doors and window frames.

I think this is absolutely ridiculous- esp. the window.

Neutral problem for sure!

Neutral problem for sure!

The circuit that the microwave is plugged in to has lost its neutral and is searching for the lowest resistance path to ground which, in this case, is the pool.. VERY DANGEROUS and should be corrected immediately. My hunch is that either the pool equipment or an outside receptacle may also be sharing this same circuit. Tell them to plug the microwave in to a receptacle other then that one for now and dont plug anything else in to it until you look at it...Also check the pool equipment to see if it has been tied in to the panel correctly, is properely grounded as well.
