I'm running a new circuit to a pool pump at single family home.. The pool pump will be on a 120V 20 Amp GFCI protected circuit that will be installed in PVC. The circuit (With an insulated #12 ground) will run underground to a receptacle installed in a bell box with an in-use cover by the pool pump that will be cord and plug connected. Currently, the pool pump already has a #8 solid attached to its housing. When I was talking with the inspector about this part of the job, he stated that I would need to bond the bell box that housed the pool pump receptacle by running a #8 solid to a lug that I would need to install on the exterior of the bell box. He went on to state that I have to do this because the box is metal. Is this correct in your opinion?
