Here's a new one for me. Single fam dwelling...an electric fence at 7 ft. from pool edge. I can't find anything that prohibits this. [No, I don't have a clue why this person wants such a thing near his pool]

But I thought if anyone knew better, it would be you guys.

Thanx in advance.

quogueelectric.,, LOL .,,,

Anyway IMO i just don't like the idea of electric fence that close to the pool due the pulsing voltage on the electric fence can bleed down to the pool it may annoy the peoples in that area for sure.

IIRC most electric fences useally kick out about 5 KV to 10 KV depending on size of unit and the layout is.

Merci,Marc

I have first hand grabbed one of these electric fences when I was a little baby cow and believe me it is a short learning curve you wouldnt want to do it twice.

might not be against code but man is that a lawsuit waiting to happen. wait till the pool guy accidentally hits the fence while he's cleaning the pool.

nakulak.,, Yeah i agree with that part.

I just can't figure out why someone have no common sense with that set up i am sure the area will be wet when someone is standing too close to the electric fence they will get ya., not the only person standing will get hit but few other peoples around the area as well.

Get the electric fence post wet then you got serious issue going on.

Merci,Marc

{ to the OP is this pool is above ground type or inground type ?? }

I would read 2008 art. 680.8 I believe an electric fence may qualify as overhead conductors.

I was thinking the same thing. This is how mariano riveras nephew got electrocuted the fence guy pierced an underground pool feeder and energized the fence. he was cleaning the pool with a long aluminum pole and came in contact with the fence killing him.

Electric Fence

Electric Fence

Also, a pool fence is the traditional place to hang towels to dry. I can just see a bunch of kids drying off after an afternoon in the pool and slinging soaking wet beach towels onto the fence to dry.

What's worse is some say that fence would require bonding:D
who would like to be the first to step off that equi plane:smile:

The safety related question is where is the electric fence's ground rod? If it's near the pool there may be a step potential issue which will annoy bathers, but if its some distance away then there wont be an issue.

On the other hand, I really wouldn't like to fall onto the eleccy fence whilst all soggy from the pool; that is gonna hurt like a bitch...
