our old microwave died so i decided to replace it with a new samsung slim microwave over the range and install a roof vent to have it exhaust out.
well while taping up the ducting, i felt a sharp feeling on my hand a few times when touching a nearby conduit so i decided to get my noncontact voltage detector and found that the ducting was charged all the way to the microwave housing.
the outlet is not grounded and is only wired to hot and neutral. voltage from hot to neutral is the expected 120 but if i probe from the ducting / microwave housing to neutral, i am reading 66 volts. is this normal?
the microwave is hooked up to a 20 amp circuit shared with other outlets and the kitchen lights with zero grounds
house was built in 1964
i probed a toaster oven on the same circuit from its housing to neutral and got 15 volts as well
edit: maybe this is normal due to: https://forums.mikeholt.com/threads/microwave-to-stove-63-volts.2573308/post-2823335 ?
