I see a lot of small contractors and inspectors but why not big contractors ? there are huge contractors around but they post not.
the company i work for has over 2000 men working - all union but they don't post, least not the employer.

Tori,
How do you know that those making the posts aren't the owners of a large company ? They could always list their occupation as an inspector or an everyday electrician in their profile just to keep anyone from knowing.
I'm sure even some of the big guys sometimes have mundane questions of which they'd rather obtain the answer unaminously through a ficticious name.

Carl :)

seriously - this is a knowledge base - our feild is so very vast and the answers so very hard

I know I could generate some very week

I can't get my boss to come aboard and were a 2 man show.

I have over 20 years in the feild - all commercial and I certainly have questions even after 7 yrs of school and a masters class

I am certainly nobodys fool and am in the top 10% of my feild and perhaps benifit or not am a perfectionist in my work ( well I will skimp every now and then after 3 trys :D )

Before this goes to far I think Chris was saying none of the owners care enough to be here.

The owner here, my boss thinks Mr. Holts site is a PITA because of my input. But the phone will ring and someone is asking me ( all of us ) for an answer.

I find it a little uncomfortable.

I'm sorry all!

I was under the impression he was saying that nobody here cares why they're not here. Like we don't suffer by their absence.

Yeah invite them in, seems to me they are lurking all the time, gaining insights, perspective and applications, that we have to sign up to ask
for!

If your go to the Bottom of "MH's Forum" it always seems thre 2/3rd more visitor's signed in as guests than active members. I don't know why the Big Dogs aren't posting but a Nickel to a Dime there reading. And that makes me sad, what about there Yahoo stories ?

I believe there is a great mix of individual's here that commutate very effectively.

I also believe there?s quite a few very sharp individuals & not to limit it too electricians that have followed there desires in the electrical field, and while some don't speak much its a wealth of learning to follow their thoughts when they do!

Thanks, "Everyone who is Active"!

Thanks, to Everyone that does POST!

Speak as much as one likes, and talk amongst yourselves?

I've come to believe that its their lose to not precipitate as an active member!

I still think that the people that post or for that matter even read here, tend to be in the top 10% of their field. Whether its electrical, business or any other type of forum. The people that are educating themselves constantly are the ones I find inspiring. These are the same who will admit that they don't know it all and cant know it all.

I'm here to learn, help other people learn, and best of all, get a laugh while I'm doing it. :) I definitely don't know it all, but at least being here helps me work on that. ;)

I have worked for several big companies and do work for numerous medium size companies now. Most do not care about the NEC, learning electricity, they care about being business men. I had one friend that started in business the same time as me tell me I wasted my time learning electricity he learned how to smooze with the customers I had 16 men at the time he had in excess of 300. He golfed and fished with clients every week as I set up test equipment. I like what I do and told him so, He then informed me he had sold his business for 16 mil........Oh well.

Gee... maybe I know that guy? ;)

I almost wrote your exact response. The large contractors are superior businessmen, plain and simple. They care less about the craft, and more about how the men performing the craft can make them money. They count on the rank and file to sort out the code and the installation methods. The large contractors are not here because there is nothing here for them. I still remain mildly surprised that there are as many participating engineers are there appears to be.

Yup, I'm on record here as saying that the most successful EC's that I know are poor electricians but are excellent businessmen.
