I have a project with one elevator 25hp 480V 3-phase, 36A FLA and 83A peak starting current. The elevator machine room is in basement with full sprinkler protection. The electrical room is far away from the elevator machine room. I am going to design a shunt trip fusible disconnect switch in the elevator machine room with 90A fuses and a 90A circuit breaker in panelboard located in electrical room. The branch circuit from the shunt trip fusible disconnect switch to elevator control panel is sized as 36Ax1.25=45A that is #6AWG. The feeder from panelboard to the shunt trip fusible disconnect switch is sized as the same as the branch circuit that is #6AWG.
I haven't done any power design for elevator for a while. I am not sure about the feeder size (#6AWG/ 55A) since it is not protected by the circuit breaker (90A).
