The feeder is existing, that is all the NEC requires to use the exception.

That's how I see it. Assuming compliant at the original install. :?

High up in the Rockies, far from the east coast that is the way I see it too.

Just want to thank everyone for their input. Nice to have some background information to work with. Looks like talking to the inpsector is the next step.
