Price of dual function AFCI/GFCI devices

I am no longer involved with anything residential and as such I have no idea where prices (or technology for that matter) has gone, but to those working in the field how much do dual function breakers cost vs standard AFCIs breakers? Is anyone still using AFCI breakers and separate GFCI receptacles?
 
DF's are the norm in my area now, though I know of one contractor that still used AFCI breakers and GFCI receptacles. Personally after all the trouble with DF's, I think the separate breaker and receptacle is a better idea, preferably an AFCI that does not incorporate GFPE. ;)

I have not bought one lately since I had been working for someone for the past year and I never saw a supply house invoice on them (special Square D pricing through a local wholesaler), but shelf price at HD is around $50.

Obvious answer- but are DFs cheaper than AFCI and GFCI down stream?
 
To answer your question.My supplier sells the BR AFCI cb at $40.83 each and the dual function at $45.66 each.

I agree with Peter d, using two individual devices does make it easier to troubleshoot an issue when you have one. I have been using the DF's when necessary and have not had any issues yet.

Not in the case for BR breakers. BR AFCI's like GE's do not have any GF protection.

DF cost $12 more that AF with my current contract pricing for Square D. That is 100% profit for them. Square D HOM and QO AFCI's have 30-50ma ground fault protection so the only difference between the AF and a DF is the GF setting.

A while ago we did a 3 fam reno, i was used to afci's ,but this was my first DF venture

We parked each unit's panel out of, but within sight of the kitchen, the gist being to meet lotto, accessibility concerns in 422

everything was either afci or DF

and we used GE , which never seem to trip anywhere near what normal gfci receptacle do

overall , i'd say it was a code compliant bid winner

speaking as an EC of course, satan's spawn , etc etc....:)

Thanks :) And yet, it still costs more than a standard AFCI. :(
 
My former boss was on a buying program with the local supplier for Homeline, but he said the price was only a few dollars difference from HD. Using the supplier was more for convenience than anything else.
