We were notified today of a "potential anomaly" on a product that had certain date codes. It was easy enough to see where the items went but do not track the date codes to know if the ones we installed are affected. Does any one keep that much detail?

Five hour round trip of course.
 
How will this anomaly affect product performance/reliability/function ? If it is a serious issue can you put the manufacturer on the hook for your cost to remedy the situation ?

Very serious problem under the right conditions. We will replace them as soon as replacements are available and worry about who pays later. In the mean time the customer has been made aware of the problem.

Are these items the Siemens sounder bases?

Rockwell Automation has announced a significant PSA on select 140M-C*, 140M-D*, 140MRC*, and 140U-D* that were manufactured in August 2014 and September 2014 (date codes IB (August 2014) or JB (September 2014)). In a small number of instances, when the breaker is in the OFF or TRIPPED state, the identified breakers may unexpectedly or intermittently conduct electricity thru a single phase. This can result in voltage being present on the load side of the breaker with the breaker in the OFF or TRIPPED state.

Shock, vibration, or other environmental conditions may cause an affected breaker to unexpectedly conduct electricity after the breaker has been placed in the OFF or TRIPPED state, even after voltage has been verified to be absent on the load side.

If you are in posession of these items, Rockwell Automation will be in contact with you and customers are advised to replace product within the potentially affected date code range.

*edit* I believe there was an earlier PSA on the 140M breakers back in 2005.
