I am considering purchasing a 60 gallon air compressor with a 3 horse power motor that pulls 14.7 amps at 230 volts on a single phase circuit. Approximately 50 feet of wire will be needed to connect the unit to the sub panel. This will be only item on this circuit. I have done research and found two different answers. One said to use a 20 amp double pole breaker with #12 wire and the other suggested a 30 amp double pole breaker with #10 wire. Could you please advise me on what option is correct to install the air compressor correct and safe.
