When installing direct burial wire such as use-2 buried at the proper depth if any portion of that run is provided with added protection such as where it crosses a drive area if a protective sleeve of pvc is used in that area only are the derating tables required to be used for the wire ampacity? opinions ?

Derating would apply if the PVC was longer than 24 in. Dont know how many conductors you have but possibly you could use more than one pipe. Just maintain spacing per310.15(B)(2)(b)
