How many of you are required to provide calculations for SFR prior to starting your installation or during the permit process?

Me.

In all of the million times I have been asked for one I never actually had to produce one it is the funniest thing. It is kind of like the lochness monster for me.

I've never had the bldg dept ask for one. I run them for my own piece of mind and for a good laugh (it always seems the Home owner wants a much larger service then they need, like they want a 200 amp and the load calcs come up 90 amps) But the POCO wants them and they are the ones that I would rather give inflated numbers to , so they don't run to small of a service lateral to me.

We have to turn in a load calc to the power company anytime we are requesting service equipment (the meter can) for a home or business where we have added circuits such as for addition and remodels. Since the city supplies the meter can. If we are just requesting a 200 amp socket to upgrade a service and maybe add a couple of circuits, then no load calc is required.

Power company here requires one but the City doesn't. I downloaded a real nice Excell load calc program that I use. I got it from someone here but do not remember who. Anyone here remember who had it? It is very good because it also includes pool panel calcs.
