Since there is no natural gas in this area, the question rarely comes up, however more homeowners are opting for propane powered residential equipment which puts a rather large fuel tank near the building. I can't find anything in the NEC that regulates proximity of service equipment to these tanks unless Table 515.3 would apply here and the overpressure relief valve would be considered a "vent"?

There is a distance ,the regulator is the real risk near electric.And bonding will be required.

You need a copy of NFPA 54, The Fuel Gas Code if it is adopted in your area.

Charlie: I think this would be an LP gas, being propane. With that in mind I beleive the NFPA 58 applies. I don't have it, so I can't help beyond that.

I remember that the NFPA 58 talks about clearances from combustibles. Typically, you will see a 1,000 gallon or 2,500 gallon tank for a residence. If I'm not mistaken, these tanks must be 10(?) feet from a building or any combustible, including vegatation. With that in mind, if your panel is located on the structure you should be ok

Watch the clearance where it goes into the house.The regulator lets gas escape.Been a while since i was involved in one of these.Think it was 10 feet from regulator to the electric panel or meter.
