Pump Installer & Failed Inspection

The electrician did a great job with this house. I noticed the flare end of the conduit at the base of the foundation where a rock was placed.

After moving the rock I see the flexible cord and pull on it and it pulls right out of the ground around the house.

The grinder pump installers don't seem to get it.

They did't want any corrosive methane gasses getting into the panel.

I guess they didn't wan't any power getting to the pump either.

Pump works, the wire goes into the ground where it would not pick up anymore.

The first time the pump was replaced, I bet there would be flying splices too!

That looks like Type TC direct burial cable.

I've installed a lot of those grinder systems.

Around here, if you did it the way that installer did, you would be pulling it back out and doing some digging.

On the systems that I installed, that cable would be 240V fused at 30A.:smile:

I haven't used TC http://www.okonite.com/Product_Catalog/section3/sheet23.html but it is most versatile. I think it needs to be a bit deeper, like 24" or 12" if it is on a 120 volt 20 amp gfi.
