PV causing error code on electric range

What I'd follow up on is the "Someone hit a pole down the street" comment. Are there multiple voltages hanging on those poles, and could one set of primaries have fallen on another? If so, I would look into the possibility that maybe circuitry in the inverter was damaged and it's output is not what it's supposed to be or it's fluctuating. Just a thought.

That was suggested to the owner who stated " When I told the solar company that I was having problems they sent out a tech who didn't even seem too sure how to use a meter."

I wouldn't think 245V, which is the highest reading with my Fluke I had, would be over the manufacturers voltage limit.:?
Coupled with the fact that it isn't an instantaneous error, the range will work for a few minutes. From what I've been able to determine it seems to be coupled with load added or subtracted from the service BUT only when the panels are generating.

Fortunately this isn't my problem since I'm really the fourth party but unfortunately the customer isn't willing pay for a power quality study, I'd love to get to the bottom of this.

I'm sure the 245 volts you were reading was the RMS voltage though, it is likely the peak voltage of a distorted waveform that is causing troubles, and is something that customer did not want to pay for more advanced power quality analysis that would likely uncover the problem.

If this weren't an optimizer system, I'd probably try installing an inverter from a different manufacturer.

Solaredge's manuals, seem to suggest that other makes of inverters could possibly be used with their power optimizers.
I wonder.....
(certainly the online, panel-level monitoring features would be lost,as some other features may also be lost)

I thougt that the optimizers required control inputs from the string inverter to operate at all.
Possibly the optimizers can instead be configured as a self organized group mind? Or other inverters could license the technology?

Yes, they do describe inverter-agnostic product capabilities. Presumably they would love to sell a modco on a module-integrated product, and if they did it would have to be inverter-agnostic. But in practice, I think they are presently selling complete proprietary power conversion systems in North America. (I could be wrong.)

I, too, thought I recalled something about Solaredge allowing the optimizers to be used with a different type of inverter if you have some kind of box in between. But I could not find any mention of such a box on their website, so I didn't say anything. They may not actually be selling such a product at the current time.

Module to inverter communication

Module to inverter communication

The inverters are Solar Edge.

Since the customer is not willing to go forward with the power analyzer, I'm guessing I'll never get to the bottom of this issue. I have found a few instances, via Google, of RF interference with these inverters but nothing like what is happening here.
I love being the "hero" ( as most of us do) and fixing the problem but since I'm a third party in this I'm probably at a dead end.

Since this is SolarEdge and I believe they use powerline communication between the optimizers and the inverter, could that be the source of your interference? Could be that the powerline communication is interfering with the stove brain in some way. That might explain also why it doesn't happen right away (I don't know if the optimizers communicate constantly or only occasionally with the inverter).

We've not seen that with SE specifically, but we have seen some enphase microinverter systems interfere with other equipment in the house that uses powerline communication also. In those cases we were able to eliminate the interference with simple powerline filters between the inverter and the affected devices.

There's a fundamental difference between these. Enphase deliberately puts a signal on the regular AC wiring while Solaredge puts it only on the DC wiring. I would have thought that there's enough capacitor filtering between DC and AC to keep any Solaredge signal from making it onto AC wiring. Then again, I'm in no position to say it's impossible.

Does anyone know what causes some paragraphs on this forum to appear in
a line on the left side of the screen? It is very frustrating
Webmaster, help please?!?

Some posts now contain a large Mike Holt ad on the right side of the screen. If you have ads blocked all you will see is that the text is squished up on the left.
I have no problem with MH ads being inserted, but the placement (at the side rather than top or bottom) is annoying. JMO.

I think the ad is just in the last post of the thread, which was yours before I replied, and I bet it moves to mine after I reply.

Edit:
So far correct, when someone else adds a post it will move to their post.

So far I have only seen this ad on the PV forum though.

It used to be below the last post. And I suspect that I have seen it recently in a post other than the last one, but I cannot swear by that.
