PVC Coated Shoe Group for 555 Bender (any bender though).

I have in front of me a Greenlee bending shoe for a 555 bender, for 1/2"-2". It is stamped for PVC Coated Rigid Conduit, but it is only machined aluminum (does NOT have the black coating on it). My question is this: Has anyone used a shoe (on any type of bender) for PVC Coated pipe that did not have a coating on the shoe? Is this a factory mistake? ((On hold w/Greenlee customer support now). Any imput would be appreciated!

Greenlee CS didn't know, THOUGHT there may have been a very short period where they were not black. He is putting in a call to their bending engineer who is also the (unofficial) company historian; supposed to call me back. I'll update if I remember.

I sent the link to a friend who has been with Greenlee a long time. He said there was a short time when they did not paint them black.
