When installing pvc coated rgs do all the supports(hangers) for it have to be pvc coated as well? Is this Code or spec? Thanks.

If you really needed the PVC coated rigid and you install it with non-coated hangers, the conduit won't remain in place very long....the hangers will corrode away.

I can only offer you my opinion as a trained, direct factory representative of one of the brands of PVC coated galvanized rigid conduit, Ocal.

Code = no
Spec = with so many different engineering firms, I can't give you an answer. If the engineering firm uses our pre-written specifications that we make available to engineering firms, then no.

I do not recommend all hangers be PVC coated. For example, strut. I recommend stainless steel strut. Strut is not cast, its rolled, so the cost difference is not like LB's. When you tighten the strut straps you can pierce the PVC on the strut, so to be installed to the manufacturers recommendation you need to patch every strap in four places if you use PVC coated. Thats one reason why I recommend stainless steel strut be used on PVC coated galvanized rigid conduit jobs.

I'm struggling to give you a complete answer without being spammy as I respect this forum and its rules. I just want to point out that I will have a factory trainer come to your facility or job site for free, hold a hands on class that includes threading, bending, installing, and repairing PVC coated galvanized rigid conduit. You get more then the training, but I don't wish this to read like a ad, so I best stop here, simply making you aware that a free class exists.

I'm pushing towards using RTRC on a future project, I don't care for PVC coated RMC as the conduit bodies, boxes, covers and straps don't hold up very well
