Re: PVC conduit

Putting in my two cents I would say that stranded is easier to pull. It's true that you can't really push it in but for anyone who has ever tried to pull a bunch of solid #10's in and out of a 3/4" C conduit body will tell you that stranded is easier.

Re: PVC conduit

For what its worth, I agree with Peter. As long as you've got a decent place to feed it from (assuming somebody IS feeding)I prefer solid wire for the same reason. Its also alot easier to deal with if you've got to roll out a measured run and you have many more conductors to pull than you have reels to pull from. Or if you ever have to pull a run back out for any reason. I also prefer it for terminating to devices, neat CB panels, etc. But don't get me wrong, there are many times stranded wire is better suited to the purpose at hand.

Re: PVC conduit

Pappy, this sounds like a single circuit install to me. If so you will need a disconecting means (a switch will suffice) in the supply conductors at the shed building. If you run a multiwire circuit use a double pole switch for this. For a single circuit no ground rod will be necessary.

Why would a separate switch be required as the disconnecting means, he stated he going to install a rec, thats a disconnecting means so is the switch for the lights?

225.31 Disconnecting Means.
Means shall be provided for disconnecting all ungrounded conductors that supply or pass through the building or structure.
How does a receptacle disconenct the ungrounded conductors that supply the building?
