Let me as the question. Wire strippers are manufactured. Is it against the code to lets say. strip a piece of 12 awg wire with a knife?

Good point. I have a radiant propane heater that I often use for PVC pipe heating. I have no identification label on it, but I never really use it for anything else either, so maybe it is still code compliaint - especially if I would put a label on it that says something like "PVC pipe heater"
But I don't believe there is a NEC section that says wire stripping should only be done with equipment identified for the purpose.
What if you accidentally strip 12AWG with the 14 AWG portion of the stripper? Can the AHJ condemn this? How might AHJ even know this happened?

Exactly! How does an inspector know how you bent pvc? Which is more legal, perfect pvc bent with a propane heater, or burned black pipe bent with a heat blanket made for pvc?

Code wise I see no violation in either. Blanket heaters are kind of difficult to significantly burn the conduit, hot boxes are easy to burn if you leave it in too long.

On weekends Bob doesn't go to a Chruch, Synagogue, or other typical place of worship like many others do. He goes down to the inspectors office and has his own worshiping ritual he does every week.
Don't want to upset the inspectors, you never know what they may do to you for eternity if you betray them.:lol:

BTW, I am more worried about what happens if I lie to the wife than to an inspector.

Yes, you can certainly be evasive and unprofessional, that is not how I choose to work with inspectors.

Exercising your rights is not being evasive or unprofessional; it would be unprofessional - possibly criminal - for a government official to attempt to deny you your right to not answer.

Bob sees lying to an inspector as being on same level as lying to St. Peter right before he is about to let you into heaven
.I see inspector as person just like I see anyone else. I generally do not lie to anyone, but if for some reason I am going to, I won't reconsider just because that someone is an electrical inspector. I expect same in return from the inspector - treat me like he would anyone else.
