Your leaving the owner a mess to deal with in the future.He now has an area they cant place anything over and a mess for future electrician that might not knows its there.Do the right think and repull.Scrap is almost $2 a pound here.

Splices are never as good as new.I use to be forced to put hundreds of splices in attics for houses that had burned.Not a job i would ever want to fix.

Could you have it welded back together, or would that violate the no welded raceways article.
