I have a question about PVC LBS or Red Dot LBS.I have never used PVC for a service up-grade.When I look in the code book at 314.28(2) Angle or U Pulls I am confused.I had to do some work on a 200 amp service.I had to use three LBS to make my mission. If I use PVC LBS they are only 8-inches from hole to hole.If I use 314.28(2) two times six is 12-inches minimum. My $40.00 Red Dots are what I have to use.How can the $10.00 PVC LBS be legal??????? PS,,, Using 2-inch conduit.

Re: PVC LBS

IMO, the missing element here is in the 314.28(A) wording:

"Where an enclosure dimension is to be calculated..."

With a prefab LB there's no enclosure dimension to be calculated like when using a generic enclusure where you're busting your own holes.

Re: PVC LBS

If your worried about the size of the LB go to the next size and use reducers. Larger is going to require less labor.

Expense does not necessarily make for better. With the PVC LB you are less likely to set up a parallel path for neutral/grounded conductor current.
