we are installing some low bay lights that have a quartz restrike lamp in them. My question is if we wire the low bays for 240 v., do we need to bring a neutral up for the quartz lamp?

Thanks,
Bob

Re: quartz restrike

In my experience no, they will derive the 120 from the ballast. At least that is how it is done with 277 volt fixtures.

However I would check with the fixture maker to be sure.

Re: quartz restrike

no most lumiaires [hid types] use the quatz stand by genrally driven off from ballst even thru some are multi tap set up but majorty dont have to bring extra wire for quatz stand by but really as what IWIRE [Bob] saying check with the manufacters but also i will like to add a highlight note here too when you figures out for load figures because most quatz useally either 100 or 250 watt additonal load some case i know very large HID lumiaire do take much as 500 watt quatz so just watch out with load figures it will throw the monkey wrench in this one.

Merci , Marc

P.S. for load fiugures please do add quatz bulb wattage to the HID wattage to get the figures right to prevent breaker or fuse go out

Re: quartz restrike

The instructions showed a multi tap ballast, but the common to the quartz lamp was 1 leg of the 240 v., that is what was confusing. Thanks for the responses.
