Is it not true that a motor with capacitor has both start and run winding of the same gauge?

On smaller motors the extensions for connection are often all the same, that does not mean the windings are the same gauge. If the start winding is connected to midpoint of run winding and is 120 volts then they likely are not going to be same impedance. Most motors I run into of any design have higher impedance start winding than the run winding, even without the capacitor.

I run into a lot of capacitor start-capacitor run motors, the running winding will draw considerably more current than the start winding both while starting and running, different impedance.
