SEE page 469 in Mike Holt's 2005 Electrical NEC Exam Preparation book: Question about example 11.2 Bank. Question about the sprinkler pump. First, why is it considered a continuous load and if it is a 240V load, why was that 25% added to the neutral load calculation? Thanks for your help. Lenny Lasater.

I am leaving this post open, rather than sending it by email to Steve. Although it was addressed to a specific person, I invite anyone with an opinion (and a copy of the book mentioned above) to provide an answer.
