800.5 Reads Access to Electrical equipment shall not be Denied by an accumulation of wires and cables, that prevents a removal of panels, including suspended ceiling panels,
the Way that Reads to me is nobody (including myself) can put anything that would prevent me from getting to the Communication panels. I ask as I have a communication Panel that Has a large &long AC duct in front of it. Leaving a 1x2,5 foot space to get to it,

Re: Question on 800.5

800.5 is referring to ceiling tiles and other access panels that may be used to access electrical equipment above them. The accumulation of communication cables above suspended ceilings many times prevents the removal of tiles and this is what they are trying to correct.

That said, the Code does not stipulate clearances around or require access to communications equipment, cross connects, blocks, etc, so unfortunately your situation is not a code issue.
