I have an inspector failing me for a commercial Generac install because I had my guys mount the shut down switch required by this article on the outside of the generator enclosure itself. We used the Generac supplied part for this, and based on my reading, i think this would be compliant. He is saying it has to be remote?
What do you guys think?
(B) Remote Emergency Shutdown. For other than one- and
two-family dwelling unit, generators with greater than 15 kW
rating shall be permitted with a remote emergency stop Switch
to shut down the prime mover. The remote emergency stop
switch shall be located outside the equipment room or generator
enclosure at a readily accessible location and shall also meet
the requirements of 445.19(A) ( I ) and (A) (2).
