nift21,

I'm sorry man, I wasn't aware that product wasn't available in your area.

Didn't mean to get your shorts into a knot.

Re: QUESTIONS ON A TRICKY SERVICE, JOB SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY

Hey everyone. Thanks for all the Great advice, Job is complete, i found a place that threads pipe, so i had a 2 ft piece threaded, then the 10ft piece on top.

wires are well above the catwalk. guy wire installation made me nervous screwing an i hook into the roof, lol, i used a beamfinder, drilled a hole, filled it with tar then screwed in, i used 1/4 steel cable, it came out nice customer is happy they paid up front with a 50 dollar tip because it was so cold.

they wanted to make me hot chocolate but they had no electric!
haha

thanks guys.

if it wasnt for the weather id say the job went smoothly, standing on a snowy roof connecting the wires makes me nervous every time, even with my double insulated adjustable wrench to tighted thr split bolt connectors.

For my next service im putting a set of ratchet cutters in with the price

=)

nift21: You did good

I knew an inspector who was having coffee in a little shop one morning. He noticed two wireman, across the street, splicing the service entrance conductors and pulling them in an extended riser.

Later on he got an inspection request for a service at the location. On the way to the job he found an odd shaped rock, and put in a leather pouch. At the jobsite he pulled out the pouch and removed the rock. He passed the rock up and down the riser, stopping at the location of the splice, he repeated this a few times. He calmly put the rock back in the pouch, and put it in his pocket.

He took out his non-compliance form and wrote remove splice inside conduit. Install un-spliced conductors. He never said a word, and to this day he has never told the wiremen what he pulled on them.

What is SNOW ?
I prefer the blocks with plastic boot (not sure of name) far safer than split bolts and no tape.Where are the pictures?

jimwalker,
Polaris, Ilsco, etc. I like those a lot. Real time saver. WE used them before they were popular. The local inspector rejected them the first time he saw them so we had to get the UL listing (pending) info from Polaris. Inspector then released job. That was in the days when the blocks were special ordered with almost whatever configuration you needed.

:) Glad your service turned out so well nift21 :)
