Since I can't use the SA circuits for a range hood, can it be powered from the 240 outlet for the range?

OCP?

I don't think so, but I don't know what you asked.

I have no interest in using this method, it's just a curiousity.

OCP Overcurrent protection.

The only 240 volt range outlets I see in homes are 50 or 40 amps.

Supplying a range hood with a 40 or 50 amp 120 volt supply may be a violation of 422.11

Wow.

Ranges are what, 50A 240 V circuit?

Fan is what 15A or 20A 120V circuit?

any additional Over Current Protection?

Oh! OCPD. I get it

What about taps or running the thing full current all the way?

The "tap" would be the conductors between the 240v receptacle (actually should be a box ahead of it) and the OCPD for the 120v outlet.

Im not sure how it would be worth it anyways, you would need to install larger wire for the circuit, then another OCPD, i just dont see how this is worth the effort. I know its hypothetical, but its not practical

I'm kinda just wondering if this sort of thing's been done by profesionals before.

Look at table 210.24.

You can't put a 15 or 20a receptacle on a 40a/50a amp circuit.

I was thinking maybe someone makes a receptacle rated for more than 20 amps. I've seen stranger stuff.

dryer receptacle, range receptacle, welder receptacle.

There are a ton of receptacle configuration. I wish i had a link to a NEMA chart of receptacle configurations handy.

Well, I was thinking 120 stuff but I suppose the cord be changed, if UL wouldn't mind.
