had this inspector fail us for final inspection on dental office for oulet for disposal below the sink in the break room. he stated
the outlet was not readily accessible by definition. read the defintion. to take action such as use of a tool, climb over ladders, remove obsticals.
i could argue this point, but you know what they say about arguing with the inspector , like wrestling with a pig in the mud. this inspector will look anything to fail inspections. firestone colorado.open the base cabinet door. this accessable

Unfortunately this is not clear in the NEC. IMO, if the receptacle is near the front of the cabinet then he is incorrect, however if it is in the back then he can say it is not readily accessible.

I have never seen a dishwasher receptacle of any kind that is not in the back behind the plumbing.

Yeah, but apparently there is a class teaching inspectors that it is not, had one in Baltimore, MD that countertop gif’s are not accessible if an appliance such as a microwave is sitting in front of it, and made us change them to breakers.

I've always passed a GFCI receptacle under a sink.
At final inspection, there's nothing in the way. Done.
It's the occupant who creates the violation.

That’s dumb, if that’s the case then 90% of gfci fall in that category.

We are talking about a gfci receptacle not a standard receptacle, is that what you are referring to. Gfci need to be readily accessible and a standard receptacle does not.

Never understood why they consider a locked door readily accessible, but a small cabinet that is unlocked that has small obstructions easily moved is not. The time required to access the gfci would be about the same in either case unless you have to go find the guy with the keys.

When I'm installing the receptacle for a dishwasher it's typically located in the sink base beside it protected by DF circuit breaker.
Same here, moot point in residential now with both AFCI and GFCI required. Just use a DF breaker.
OP's situation is different in that AFCI is not required.

Why have receptacle for dishwasher just hardwire?
I once had a situation where sink base not adjacent to DW and thought no problem just use a breaker lock. Eaton BR panel and their breaker locks at time simply didn't fit their dual function breakers :( Not sure if they ever made changes to them, I generally don't install those new and not entirely familiar with all the accessories like I am with QO and Homeline accessories.

Yes ran into same problem now have 200 breaker locks for dual function breakers
