We have an application where we are using a 480V, 1HP, 7A rated receptacle for an industrial cord-and plug connected dryer. Dryer is an assembly on a cart of sorts, with wheels for mobility. Dryer has small motor and heating element (not sure of the exact ratings) and has a local 30A fused disconnect. Question is, what size circuit breaker to use to protect the receptacle? We are thinking that we have to protect it for the 7 Amps, but we can't get a CB rated at that. Is there some exception in the code that will allow us to use a larger CB?
