Is there anywhere in the nec that states garage outlets must be mounted above a mininum height. I thought there was but am having no luck finding it

One recommendation I've read was to put garage outlets above 48". Not only does this save one's back from constantly bending over to plug/unplug (garage outlets typically get far more temporary use than other household outlets), but it also keeps the plugs accessable if a standard sheet of plywood or drywall is leaned up against the wall.

What is the preferred receptacle height in a residential garage?

I go 48", considering the wall of a garage will be hidden by shovels, bicycles, skateboards, short peices of lumber, camping equipment, the extra couch, boxes of old photographs, ladders, the rear seat from the minivan..........

I put them at 48" to the top of the box. This will put them above a potential work bench.

Also, the 6' 6" rule refers to the maximum height of a circuit breaker, not a receptacle. You can put a receptacle as high as you want, just look at the one the garage door opener is plugged into. ;)

I don't have a garage. So will you stop by, build me one, install a receptacle for the opener so I can see one?
