Receptacle jumper used to continue circuit

In commercial work should one be able to use the receptacle as a jumper instead of splicing ones wires and making a pigtail for ones neutral and hot? Is there any where in the code book I can reference this?

Except for the neutrals of MWBC's you can use a device as a feed through for circuit conductors. See 300.13(B)
