Receptacle Location - Outside Of Dwelling(s)

This is a picture of a deck built on the side of an existing dwelling. There are already receptacles placed as per 210.52(E) - one in the front and one in the back of the dwelling.




Is there a code requirement for a receptacle to be placed somewhere along the deck?

I'm thinking in a simplified way...build a deck follow building code...No receptacles required

Wire a house...follow electrical code..receptacle required

In NYS, not under the Existing Buildings Code Alteration Level 2 Addition, since you have already met 210.52(E)...but if and when we ever get to the '08 NEC, 210.52(E)(3) will kick in and require a receptacle on this size porch.

This is true in 2008 but there is an exception if the deck has less than 20 sq.ft.
