Receptacle Required In Bathroom

I have a question about required receptacles. Are receptacles required in bathrooms in restaurants? I know they are required in dwelling units, but can't find any definitive information about restaurants.

Thanks,

Jim

If required does it have to be installed within 3' of the sink.I can't find it in the code either.I just inspected a storage building with a rest room in it.It did have a gfci receptacle installed but it was installed on the wall behind you as you stand in front of the sink.Probably about 6' away from the sink. This does not seem very safe at all.I decided not to red tag for it until I can find out for sure that it is a violation.

If it's required, it would be a local code & you would need to talk to the ahj. Since the code does not require one, IMO, the recep. could be installed anywhere.

I don't see anything unsafe about it. In a dwelling unit, you need a receptacle near the sink so that you can use the mirror while shaving or drying your hair (well, for me, just shaving). You don't usually do such things in a bathroom within a storage area or restaurant. So why is there a receptacle there at all? Who knows, and who cares? Perhaps it is for use by the cleaning crew who will be using a vacuum or buffer on the nearby floors.

Kudos to you for that decision.
