What's the difference of these receptacles and their specific application if any?

1. Hospital grade
2. Hospital grade - tamper resistant (safety type)
3. Commercial grade receptacle
4. Industrial grade receptacle
5. Residential receptacle

When/where can we use the AC and MC cable? I heard that MC cable can goes up to certain size only.

Thanks!

These questions are much too broad for a forum such as this. For the receptacles, go to the manufacturers website (such as Leviton or P&S) and read their specifications on the different types of receptacles that they provide. This should clear up the differences. For the AC and MC cables, read their respective articles in the NEC and that will clear up when and where they may be used. The main difference is that the sheath of type AC cable is suitable for use as an equipment ground, Type MC cable has a seperate conductor for the equipment ground (unless it is the new MC-AP all purpose cable).

Or the been-around-for-ever Type MC-HL.
