Have a Code reference ? Note post #10, with reference, addresses electrical power to heat producing equipment,
The discrepancy it the heart of the problem :)

Look at post #2 with the ICC fire code. Also, what would you have under the hood that wouldn't be heat producing? There is always the possibility of any piece of equipment being added or replaced they may be plugged in.

I guess it's a fine line and thus the problem. Is a conveyor motor "heat producing" ??
The oven is gas and that is turned off by the mechanical link.
As far as added equipment... we would be getting into the "what if" category".

I'm all for the power being turned off but, in align with other areas of enforcement , I don't want to do so based on "I say so". I prefer a reference. I can use the wording in Post 2 but it seems to leave a little "wiggle room".

I agree, typically we have all electrical cut off. Its an AHJ(which you don't have here) call.

It seems I'm having to wear the AHJ hat on this one :). The Fire Mashall has deferred to the local building inspector who says he has no idea ! :slaphead:
