Receptacles on roof>?

Can you mount a receptacle horizontal on the roof, with the weatherproof cover facing the sky?:-?

what about the new code that talks about derating the conductors inside of raceways that are located on the roof based on the ambiant tempature inside the raceway? is a receptacle listed to be in that much heat? i dont have a codebook handy right now so i cant give an article number

'08 NEC 310.15(B)(2) ex. 5 (c) has the requirements for heat. There is still nothing to prohibit an outlet installed face up on a rooftop. Unless, the outlet listing says different.

I would add that the cover should be both rated for, and effective at, remaining weatherproof while in use at this orientation.

Why not just install the receptacle outlet in the "vertical" position? With a aprroved box/cover and gfi protection.:roll:
