How far must a receptacle be from a lake or pond? The receptacles will be 120v 20amp GFCI. Also how far must a panel and a underground J-box be from a lake or pond?
Electrical service equipment is to be located 1.5 m (5 ft) horizontally beyond the shoreline and at least 300 mm (12 in.) above the electrical datum plane. This service equipment is required to automatically disconnect once the water level reaches the established electrical datum plane

(B) Existing Installations.
Existing electrical installations that do not comply with the provisions of this Code shall be permitted to be continued in use unless the authority having jurisdiction determines that the lack of conformity with this Code presents an imminent danger to occupants. Where changes are required for correction of hazards, a reasonable amount of time shall be given for compliance, depending on the degree of the hazard.
I hope that's just a driveway rut next to a mobile home service.kbsparky said:Is that a remote weather reporting station ?
roger said:This was actually a new installation under the 02 code, and it was moved.
BTW not many areas (if any) ever adopted article 80

acrwc10 said:If it had been inspected and past then I would still say that article 80 is there for guidance although not an enforcible code it can still be used to argue the point that if there is no " imminent danger " there is no reason to move it. How would you call it ?
roger said:No it was inspected and passed, it was for an outdoor classroom at a school close to where I live.
The problem was, the fish pond was dug by well intentioned volunteers after the service was installed.
I would say that it would still have to be moved, and yes, I can see a potential danger if the neutral was ever lost and a group of kids are sitting close to the GE in a heavily fertilized wet area.
If someone decided to build a building in front of an existing service would you say article 80 would allow it to remain.
