So in your mind are a duplex and decorator two different devices or can you have a duplex that's decora? In my mind a duplex just mean that you have two areas to plug into and nothing to do with the style. So a decorator( square type) is a a duplex, no?

A Decora (rectangular) style device could be a duplex also could be a single receptacle. Duplex refers to the number of receptacles (two) on the yoke.

It's just a straight blade receptacle in the case of a 15 amp residential unit (duplex; triplex; or single) followed by any other description such as "grounded." Each manufacturer will have a stock number but toilet paper is toilet paper no matter who makes it. You can call tissue "Kleenex" but you can't call a receptacle a 'Leviton'.

We use "standard _______ receptacle" for non-Decora style and specify "Decora" when that's requested. In the "________" area goes the type such as single/simplex, duplex, GFCI, etc.
