Is there a code article that requires a recessed light to have a trim. I came in to do work at a residence that had just finished a basement renovation. It had been given a final electrical sticker yet there were obvious violations present. In reviewing items with the homeowner, I pointed out that no trims existed in cans installed in an unfinished area. Logic tells me that a recessed fixture is lamped based on the trim installed and the rating given to the assembly with that trim. But I cannot find any article to quote. Any suggestions?
