Absolutely. I still have tin snips and scar on my thumb from when I didn't stop cutting the steel stud fast enough.

Remove the screws from the top and bottom plate from one stud. Turn it around so the flat side now faces the other flat side. Then measure over flat to flat the width of the panel can. Now put crews back in the rotated stud. Mark top of box. Hold up and screw to metal framing.
Done.
If you would like to have a better bite int Io something once screwed to metal get a piece of 2x4 and add a couple more screws through the can into wood. Some site would require a rated piece of lumber orange wood if allowed for blocking.
