To my knowledge Washington does not use PSI for their electrical examinations.
States may become reciprocal if they have similar qualifying requirements. Washington became reciprocal with Alaska after we adopted mandatory continuing education. I would imagine if Washington ever ups their bar on their test score we will then be reciprocal with Oregon.

It sure would be nice if there were a federal test that would allow work in all states.

I didn't read your link! Maybe I'm totally wrong!

I frankly don't think that has anything to do with PSI, Or I'm misunderstanding what exactly your saying in respects to the "R" word!

PSI is a company that has sold their business to many states, it doesn't mean they or any individual state just accepts them as a proof to something else, or for someone else! It's a business!

I beleieve, you've forgotten what make US up IE, "State's" would be the word.

The State Laws are for that State, it's frankly always seemed a little wide open west of the mississippi (from reading here) but that another thread.

Why have the Fed in something the State has their hand on, well that debate can go on and on, too...

Maybe you are correct there should a national system.
I can only relate it to the national teacher certifiction, but that doesn't stop the final acceptance of various classes, and colleges, etc., and is still by a state official and their legal state status.

Sure you can present your papers, but the individual laws will still govern and yes they still need to look at it!

Besides all that, some State don't qualify to other States in respects to how they manager there own State, in respect to each others Status and Laws.

South Carolina is a PSI state.....mistakes galore in their test material.

I was not impressed with PSI's contractor test that I took in 2004. Seemed like mostly trick questions with too little time. No hands on.

When I took my journeyman's test in 1992, the State proctored their own test. They had 3 sections. Code, Calculations, and Shop. It was a son-of-a-gun.

First, I am a STRONG believer in States rights. I also am a avid supporter of the U.S. Constitution. I also understand that there are some things that differ between states. Each state is allowed to make laws not spelled out in the Constitution. Yet the Constitution protects our rights, "inter state". As far as I know, your State issued North Carolina DL allows you to drive here in Oklahoma, right?

Maryland is PSI as well, but we are not on that list.

I was under the impression that PSI only administers the tests, and does not actually write them. The individual jurisdictions give them the tests to use.

Once again, I jumped to conclusions. If not the PSI thing, than there must be some connection to these 14 states, besides all being West of the Muddy River

Reciprocity has nothing to do with the firm that proctors the tests.
Reciprocity is based on an agreement between states to accept each others qualifications, test questions, and passing scores.

Maryland and DC are working out the details to reciprocate between DC and Maryland. the big issues are DC wants 8 years experience prior to sitting for a Masters and Maryland only requires 7 years. Maryland minimum passing score 70% - DC 75%. I think they will work it out and in the near future DC and Maryland will reciprocate.

Maryland currently reciprocates with Virginia and Delaware
